In modern applications, analyzing user interactions is crucial for optimizing and improving services. In the Tip2Go project, I faced the need for efficient storage and processing of data on place visits, events, and other user activities. For this purpose, we decided to use ClickHouse, a high-performance system for analytical queries on large volumes of data.

Installing ClickHouse

The first step was installing ClickHouse on the server. I chose the most current stable version of ClickHouse compatible with the project's infrastructure. I manually configured it, considering the optimal setup for working with visit logs.

Configuring Visit Logs

After installing and basic configuration of ClickHouse, I proceeded to integrate it with the Tip2Go service. A specialized table was created for logging user visits to places and events.

Each visit to a place or event is now recorded in ClickHouse in an anonymized form. The table stores data about the place or event, as well as information about the time of the visit.

A table was also created for logging project administrator actions, as well as a table for recording exceptions and errors occurring during the application's operation.

Advantages and Prospects of Using ClickHouse:

High Performance: ClickHouse provides fast processing of large data volumes, which is crucial for performing real-time analytical queries.

Scalability: The ease of adding new servers allows us to easily scale the system as the data volume increases over time.

Clusters and Replication: ClickHouse offers powerful tools for data replication and creating clusters for reliable information storage and processing.

Query Flexibility: Universal SQL queries make it easy to extract necessary data and analyze user interactions and place visits.

Monitoring Tools: ClickHouse includes powerful tools for data visualization and alert configuration, allowing quick identification of problem areas in logs.

Prospects

In the near future, I plan to deepen the use of ClickHouse for predictive analysis and creating recommendations based on historical visit data. Thanks to ClickHouse, it is possible not only to analyze current activity but also to build long-term forecasts to improve user interaction with the Tip2Go project.

Configuring ClickHouse and organizing visit logs have become not only a step towards quality data analysis but also a step towards creating a more convenient and efficient service for users.
